Shopping & Grace
Lovely weekend. With the catalog done, my time is more or less my own again, for the first time in over 2 months. And where better to spend it than in Santa Cruz? I ate, I shopped, I got a very relaxing and much needed massage, and a little hit of KPIG, a radio treat I will sorely miss up north. The shopping haul, in particular, was excellent:
- Thick ikat patchwork shirt, fuzzy and very warm. Will probably be my default overshirt after the move.
- Goatskin for the drum I'm rebuilding
- A dozen little spell candles, color-coded for various spiritual and emotional needs
- Supplies to make a meditation mala, which I beaded tonight. Still need to add a tassle though.
- Medicine Cards tarot deck. It's not fair to call it a tarot deck exactly, but that's the closest thing I can think of. There are various layouts to choose from, and each card is a totem animal, where its characteristics point to what's going on in various aspects of one's life. I'm not particular believer in the divination aspects of these kinds of tools, but from a more psychological perspective, they've been very useful. I often find that they bring up things that are present in my life, but just under the surface where I can't see them or where I'm not paying sufficient attention. So these should be interesting to play with.
