Things I Used to Know
Well, as all 3 of you may have noticed, we're in a time of redesign and cleanup at WanderingMind. With friends getting spiffy new weblogs of their own, I decided it was finally time to start paying some attention to housekeeping around here. With that in mind, I've been going back through my old entries (over 5 years worth—how did I miss that anniversary?), and while I'm nowhere near as prolific as some folks, it was nice to find some good stuff there. I also found one that was interesting in light of current events. I'm not sure what triggered it, although I suspect given the timing that I was thinking about my then-impending move to Washington, but the statements are certainly as true now as then.

Thanks for the link to the piece on grief. I'm going to print it out and keep it. Very moving.
The going back through the closets of our mind is a part of this time ... getting ready for the next phase.

i like the new look, it's cute. and, that's a good old post. very astute. i'd prefer to blaze through grief, but you're right, it can't be rushed. i guess that's our way of making sure we get time to learn/remember why whatever it was, was so important.

My guess is that you're not as prolific because you have something I've only read about - discretion. If you ask me, the quality we get here is worth the sporadicness.
You and your family are very much in our thoughts right now. I wish all my prolificness had anything good to offer you but in the end, it's only this: we are here for you, as we have been for over a decade now. That won't change, and our door is always open.
